I am realising that losing weight is not only about watching the scale needle going down in the "right" direction, but also and more importantly becoming healthier! My goals should be mainly non-scale goals and, not only, or just, reaching that famous loss 80% of excess weight.
This means that this post will change over time, I will add to this as things come to mind, and there will be plenty of goals to look forward to!
First Goal: walking around the supermarket!
There, I said it, this will be the first goal. It feels strange doesn't it? Not being able to shop properly. This has been my life for a long time and always relying on grocery deliveries or on my boyfriend shopping for me. But you know what? I want to be able to go browse through the aisles, see and pick my fresh fish, go to the butcher counter and see the new offers. That kind of thing. I feel this may be achievable as a first goal!
Second Goal: walking around the shopping center!
Similar to the first one of course, but a longer walk! And there will be a lot of standing, window shopping - ah many, I already feel the pain in my Visa he he he.
Third Goal: walking in the park!
Sticking on my headphones, go for a nice walk, breath in fresh air. Watching kids playing around, play with the occasional dogs that stops sniffing around, taking in the sun, standing under a tree waiting for a rain shower to pass. The beauty of it!
Fourth Goal: walking around the airport without the need for a wheelchair!
Oh yes, I know it sounds strange wanting actually to do the treck from the checkin desk through the queues in security, but then the shops! And the treck to reach the gate. Yes, without being watched by people who realise I'm on wheelchair only because I'm big, as I don't carry obvious crutches, nor I'm old. What a feeling of freedom it must be.
Fith Goal: walking around visiting a city!
I have not been able to show Venice to my boyfriend properly. Last time we went was ten years ago, and I relied on my wonderful sister to show him a few of the marvellous sites you can find in that amazing city. But Venice has soo much more to offer. He always reminded me how much he missed me during that walk with my sister - now I want to be able to walk around with him.
Sixth Goal: going on a girly holiday with my girlfriends!
Not sure where we'll go, but I have at least one of them who really cannot wait to share with me a nice holiday, and I'm sure I can rally around us a few others! You know, nice villages, nice walks, maybe some treckking in the woods, a stop at a local pub for some nice (small!) bite to eat.
Seventh Goal: learn how to tip-tap dance!
I've always wanted to do this! You do need to be somewhat in shape and definitely lighter in weight, and it looks like it's a great exercise, especially for the legs and the torso. Much nicer to dance than to going to the boring gymn I feel. Can you imagine the feeling and the the release of endorphins? I cannot wait!
Eighth Goal: have a proper bath!
I cannot remember the last time I could get into a bath. It's basically either me or the water! If we'll keep the bath in the house (we are currently pondering on whether to abandon it for a more practical walk-in shower) then I'll be immersing myself into it with pleasure!
Last Goal: going on a few stops of the Camino!
Probably I'll be in my very late fifties for this one, but that should not stop me shouldn't it?
The Spainsh Camino de Santiago is supposed to be of such beauty. I'd like to walk the last 75km from A Coruña to Santiago De Compostela. It's part of the Camino Ingles, and it looks like an achievable treck. After that I'd like to spend a nice weekend in Santiago before coming back.
