I cannot remember the last time I saw this number on the scale!

Yes, for the first time I saw 114.7, the number 114 on the scale!!! Bit by bit this thing is happening, and weight is coming off :-)

The nausea continues to be a problem

I do confess that I’m supposed to take a gastroprotector every day and that I often forget it (to take it far from any other medication/vitamin, an hour before and an hour after food .. of course time passes by and by the end of the day I forgot!), but the nausea is not caused entirely by this forgetfulness.

Basically it happens after I eat anything, including when I try to have coffee with some protein (some soy milk), which fills me up for hours. Seriously, when I am a little hungry, I eat a little (so very little!) and then bang! the nausea becomes my companion for an hour or so. I hope this thing will improve soon.

Sleep is improving

The past three nights I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night! Brilliant, I can sleep restfully (according to my app) for 5 hours straight, sometimes 6! Still a far cry from the 8-9 hours I was sleeping for before, so my objective is now adjusted and I’ll be happy to sleep 7 hours.

You see, the better I sleep the better the weight loss. Weird.

Remember when you were little and your mother used to tell you that you’d grow taller during your sleep? Well, there must be some truth in it. Something definitely happens to your body when you sleep, I’m no expert nor a doctor, but I know I’m right! (Hey, two of my friends who follow this blog are doctors, maybe they’ll advise me if I’m bonkers or not ;-)

Food remains an issue

I tried chicken again, for the first time in 3 weeks (I could not tolerate the chicken at the puree stage), so I ate it cooked just right, juicy and soft. Man, it came right back up in 5 minutes. What a disappointment, I just love chicken. Should I try to make a small stir fry and have it that way? I won’t give up, I will try it. Failing that I’ll try it boiled and see. Watch this space. I cannot live on meatballs forever, and I just don't like mince beef casseroles. I'll try again some grilled fish, we'll see.

It goes without saying that carbs go down and stay down far easier, but pasta and potatoes are hardly a decent diet, nor do they have any protein, which is what I am severely lacking. At this stage I should eat 60gr of protein a day (check nutrition tables of any ingredient, and you’ll see that you have to eat A LOT in order to reach 60gr!) - I try to make it up with a protein shake a day, but even that brings nausea... there's no winning there.

My friends and family!

Last time I posted about my boyfriend, but I do have to render justice to my wonderful friends and such a loving family. Not even one of them is unsupportive. Not one.

They all follow this blog, together with a nice community who seems to appreciate it (2000 views so far!) and during our calls they all ask how I’m doing, how am I feeling, they all tell me not to give up during this challenging period (truth be told, the deed is done so giving up is not an option, however it’s nice of them to say it!).

My sister even flew over for the first few days after the op, she helped my boyfriend a lot - sharing with him all chores, and nursed me through pain, getting sick, nausea, lack of sleep, the lot! I’ll never be able to thank everybody enough - truly.

Last night one of my friends came over and I was able to have a guest for a full evening without getting too tired. We had a great night and he even said he did notice me getting a little slimmer. Indeed he saw me last before my LRD, and since then I lost more than 14 kg, but I’m so happy that is beginning to be noticeable.

That’s it, no recipe this week, food was a bit of a problem, so next week I’ll simply have (again!) some meatballs, this time in a tomato sauce. Maybe I’ll post the tomato sauce recipe for any non-Italian reader, just for kicks.
