And the weight keeps going down! 1.6kg since last week. So now I am starting to believe I might really reach the target. Naah, really?!
I’ve been using this app for years (MyWeight) and I love it - it’s super simple, no frills and it only records weight and BMI. Love that. Well, here is what it looks like now. The Start date is the date I started the pre-op diet: note the BMI number for the Start date and the Current one! I know, I know, aside from my bariatric friends most of you would shudder simply at looking at these numbers - but for me they are just great!
This week I don’t have much to post - just a couple of short updates, but as this is a journal, aside from being a blog, here it goes.
The nausea is under control
Indeed it finally happened. Don’t get me wrong, when I eat I still feel uncomfortably full for the first 40 minutes, but not to the point of wanting to get sick. So, that’s good! I still should pay more attention to the gastroprotector and actually take it every day as I’m supposed to - if I do, then maybe this feeling will also go away. Will be a good girl and report on it next week.
Food remains a problem
I’m 5+ weeks since surgery and according to the guidelines I should be able to eat more than before. However, if anything, I’m eating a lot less. Half a ramekin (2 tablespoons!) of bean salad (versus 1.5 ramekins I could eat the week before), and half a boiled egg is a very rich lunch. A coffee with a splash of soy milk keeps me so full I cannot eat anything for hours afterwards. I meatball at dinner (versus 2.5 before). 2 tablespoons of yoghurt for breakfast versus 4, and so on.
This week I will try having aubergines and courgettes in tomato sauce, something I really like, and see if I can eat more of that. No protein there, but I’m interested in finding out what’s the volume of food I can master.
It feels that the restriction is growing tighter, rather than looser as expected.
I am to meet with the surgeon on April 6, so I will ask him what’s the story there.
Sleep is continuing to be more and more an elusive thing
I wake up 2, sometimes 3 hours after going to bed - and then stay up for an hour or two; then off to bed again, and again I’m punctually up in two hours. I would need to be able to keep the cycle until 10 or 11 in the morning just to be able to squeeze in enough sleep, but of course I’m back to work so I cannot do that. During the weekend I do though, and I take a nap also, again something I cannot do during the week. Today I feel rested, almost.
Exercise is non existent
This is ENTIRELY due to sheer laziness. I was pain free finally last week and the weather was absolutely stunning here, albeit still quite fresh. There was no excuse not to go out at lunchtime for a short walk. I’m not talking about venturing out for the prescribed 30 minutes, but at the very least putting my nose out the door! Nope, nada, zilt! What a dope.
Will I go out today? Ahem… ugh… let me light a cig and think about it ;-)
Yeah, I know, I know. With the lack of protein intake and the lack of exercise my muscle mass is already weakening and shrinking by the day. We’ll see what I can do.
This is it for the week, onwards and upwards! (well, downwards ;-)
